About The Service
Cardiff Council is a local government organisation responsible for delivering over 700 different services to our citizens, visitors, and businesses across Cardiff. It is important to us that our workforce better reflects the communities we serve.
The service includes the provision of information concerning facilities and events, locking of parks as required, inspections of parks buildings and the surveillance of parks areas including play areas and the delivery of effective maintenance regimes.
Bute Park is a major visitor destination and popular city-centre park. The park receives over 2.5 million visits per year and hosts a busy calendar of events and community activity. The Park is highly regarded and holds a Green Flag Award.
We are looking to fill the position of Bute Park Ranger.
About the job
You will be a visible presence within the park and provide a front-line service to park users to ensure their visit is safe and enjoyable.
Your primary objectives are:
- To ensure the park is systematically patrolled and issues are reported and resolved.
- To ensure that all bylaws are adhered to and antisocial behaviour is managed to an appropriate level liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- To ensure high standards of site maintenance and presentation are delivered with support from the wider team.
- To pass on knowledge and information about the site, which will enhance people's enjoyment of their visit.
The Bute Park Ranger will work with volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and confidence and ability to work with the public is essential.
The Urban Ranger Supervisors will support you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties.
You will receive supervision and on the job training to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer-focused manner.

This post is not suitable for post share.
This post is part time and will work 24 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week and will therefore be pro-rata'd accordingly.
Hours of work will typically be 24 hours, weekdays. Some evening, weekend and bank holiday work may be required.
A full valid driving licence is essential.
