About The Service

Cardiff Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi-agency partnership, working with children and young people aged 10-17; their families; and victims of their behaviour in order to reduce risk of offending and reoffending, protect the public and repair harm.

We are currently undergoing a period of significant change as we continue upon our successful improvement journey.

As we venture upon our next steps of progression, we have created an exciting opportunity to be part of the leadership and management team within the service, driving forward all aspects of excellent practice in prevention and partnership working.

About the job

The successful candidate will manage the Youth Justice Service Prevention team consisting of Local Authority staff and seconded partners within the service responsible for assessment and creation of co-ordinated intervention plans of support to young people open to the YJS via Prevention interventions.

You will contribute to the implementation of the re-structure of the service and a challenging action plan for overall improvements in service delivery, with a specific focus to ensure assessment, planning, development of interventions and involvement of young people in contributing to their own plans within the service is of the highest standards. You will also provide that important wider link to partners outside of the YJS in the creation and development of evidence-based Prevention work

We aim to be a strengths based responsive service that works in partnership with children and young people, their families, victims and partners across the Local Authority to provide the very best support, challenge and growth opportunities for young people within our service

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will be suitably qualified to degree level or equivalent with significant experience and knowledge of Youth Justice and the daily complex issues that can arise.

Proven supervisory or management experience within a Youth Justice Service or a closely related field is highly desirable.
