Cardiff Bereavement Services is a multi-award winning service which operates a crematorium and 8 cemeteries across Cardiff delivering a high standard of service to the bereaved and service users in a most sensitive working environment. Customer service is at the heart of what we do, we are therefore looking for a customer focused individual to join our front line team in the delivery of exceptional customer care and high standards of service at the crematorium facility.

About the job

Cardiff Council is searching for an individual to join a dedicated team to provide professional assistance at the crematorium chapels, meeting the arrival of each funeral cortege at designated service times and oversee daily funeral services. You will be responsible for preparing and operating the digital media system ensuring specific music, visual tribute, webcasting and recording of service requests are provided to meet the needs of the family. You will be required to undertake general housekeeping duties including cleaning of chapels, toilets and ancillary areas of the crematorium to ensure a high standard of cleanliness is provided at all times. You will be expected to liaise on a daily basis with funeral directors and clergy/celebrants to ensure all requests regarding the funeral service are ready in advance of the funeral day.

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and interested in making a difference to our customers by delivering exceptional public services in Cardiff. We are looking for someone with the ability to communicate effectively in a manner appropriate to individual needs, in person or by phone. The role requires a proficiency in use of IT systems to operate the bespoke media systems at the chapels. You must have an ability to work calmly under pressure and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
