About the job

Social workers within the CHAD team work collaboratively with colleagues across a range of agencies and council directorates from Health, Education, the voluntary sector and Adult Services. Mulit-disciplinary working is at the heart of what we do. The successful candidate will have experience of this. We are seeking a motivated, confident and experienced social worker to fulfil the role. We are looking for someone who feels passionate about supporting and safeguarding disabled children and their families.

The service is co-located within Targeted Services Case Management Teams within County Hall, with agile working in place to support staff to work independently across the city. There are a number of touch down points across the city, however the service has a touch down point within Ty Gwyn School on the Western Learning Campus for the use of staff within the CHAD 

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will offer case management supervision to grade 7 social workers including those in their first three years of practice who will carry varied caseloads of child protection, part IV care and support, Part VI looked after children. They will be responsible for monitoring the performance and development of social workers. They will have a limited caseload of their own.

A strong knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and confidence in decision-making are vital attributes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Manager(s).

The successful candidate will fulfil the role of Practice Lead, in implementing and sustaining the use of the Signs of Safety approach, which has been adopted by Cardiff children’s Services. This will involve supporting and encouraging the culture within the service as well as leading, teaching and modelling the approach. Full training will be available to assist with this. 

The CHAD Team are committed to improving their services and those offered to the families we support. We seek creative solutions to meet the needs of disabled children, young people and their families. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about and capable of contributing to team, service and system development.

Additional information

With effect from 1st April 2022, this role attracts a market supplement of £5,000 (full time equivalent). (£43,553 – £46,591) This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.
