Cardiff Council is the largest Local Authority in Wales. Our Insurance Team manages all of the Insurance Policies necessary to support the delivery of over 700 different services to our citizens, visitors, and businesses in Cardiff.

The Claims Handler position is based in County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff CF10 4UW

About the job

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to handle insurance claims and support the Insurance & Risk section. As a Claims Handler you will provide a comprehensive claim handling service for the whole of the Council’s activities, including liability, motor and property claims.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 17th June 2021

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful applicant will already have experience of insurance claims handling either in a public sector or private sector organisation.
You will:

Be responsible for investigating, reporting on and settlement of liability, motor, property and insurance fund claims.

Record insurance claims on a claims management system (Lachs).

Settle insurance claims and issue payment where within authority level. Recover excess from Service Area if required.

Instruct a Loss Adjuster if claim over approval level. Pay insurance claim as instructed by loss adjuster.

Extensive Liaison with all Council Service Areas, Schools, Insurers and Loss Adjusters.
To deputise for the Claims Leader in their absence.
