An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Into Work Advice Service. The Into Work Advice Service supports individuals who are looking for work or to upskill. The successful candidate will work alongside education supporting a core group of young adults access work placements and employment opportunities.

About the Job

In September, Cardiff Council will be piloting ProjectSEARCH for a small group of young people who attend special schools and specialist resource bases. This project is a one-year supported internship programme for students with learning disabilities, difficulties and/or autism, who require supported intensive, repetitive skills building opportunities to prepare for employment.

The Community Employment Mentor will predominantly be based at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff supporting the young people to successfully seek long term sustainable employment opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing personalised action plans for learners, act as a point of contact for queries and assist with employability skills. They will develop relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and third sector organisations, with the aim of supporting individuals into employment.

What we are looking for from you

You will have experience of working with individuals who face complex barriers. You will have experience of working within an employment setting providing a high quality customer service. You will have good communication and IT skills, and the ability to resolve disputes in a positive and constructive manner.

You will work well in a team, have excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach.

You will understand the issues young people may have; and will have a caring and empathetic approach when providing employment support.

This post is temporary until 31/07/2022.
