Cardiff Council’s Community Safety Team works with partner organizations from across the public, private, and third sectors, to mitigate crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour and to make communities safer.

The Community Safety Team are friendly and dedicated, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and supporting each other in their development and achievements.

We have recently been successful in applying for the Safer Streets Fund, a Home Office initiative to cut crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB). This post will support the delivery of the fund and is temporary funded until 30th September 2023.

About the job

This is an exciting opportunity in a newly established team.

The day-to-day responsibilities of the post will include coordinating deliverables within the Safer Streets Fund, leading on complex community safety projects, and taking a proactive and responsive approach to crime and anti-social behaviour within central wards of the city.

You will work closely with colleagues within the Community Safety Team, and the wider Service Area, to ensure connectivity across portfolio areas, so the clear line of sight across the complex community safety landscape remains. You will also work with statutory and non-statutory partners to deliver initiatives and effectively problem solve, using and improving existing frameworks, toolkits, and performance monitoring dashboards, to ensure you are data led and to enable effective evaluation of outcomes.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for an enthusiastic problem solver with a can-do attitude, who has a real passion for making a difference to communities. 

You will have excellent communication skills and experience of building and sustaining relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.  Working with partners you will be keen to negotiate and influence approaches to problem solving, which are based on sound judgements and recommendations. 

You will be keen to analyse and evaluate the success of outcomes and will help build a model of best practice with the wider team.

Knowledge of Project Management would be beneficial for this role.
