Cardiff Council is a local government organisation responsible for delivering over 700 different services to our citizens, visitors, and businesses across Cardiff. It is important to us that our workforce better reflects the communities we serve. We are looking to expand our current intake of Corporate Trainees to support young people with additional employment opportunities through the Kickstart Scheme, aimed at increasing opportunities for 16 to 24 year olds claiming Universal Credit and who may be at risk of long term unemployment. Our new Kickstart Corporate Trainee roles offer eligible candidates an exceptional opportunity to join us in a variety of Trainee roles in one of our teams.
Our Quality Team is looking to employ a Corporate Trainee based at Central Library Hub, The Hayes, CF10 1FL.
The team are responsible for carrying out audit work and quality checking on externally funded employment projects, according Welsh Government and European Social Fund guidelines
About the job
As a Kickstart Corporate Trainee, you will support our service and will learn to:
- Update spreadsheets with finical spends from the employability projects.
- Uploads qualification to online databases
- Audit online database to make sure correct process are being followed.
- General administrative duties, including maintaining the Quality and Performance email inbox and our digital records.
- How to use our IT systems, full training will be provided.
The service team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training and will have a named mentor to support you to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer-focused manner. The Corporate Trainee Scheme also provides opportunities to enhance your transferrable skills and you will receive additional employability training and development to support your to support your career progression
We are moving to online and homeworking working and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity.
This role will be Monday to Friday 9am-5pm

Our Corporate Trainees gain valuable experience working for the largest Council in Wales. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the appointed candidate will go on to secure a further role at the end of this initial contract, they will be supported and encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available within our organisation, in order to progress their career.

This post is for 6 months based on 37 hours per week at the salary shown. It may be possible to work on a part time basis in this Kickstart Scheme role (minimum 25 hours per week) and the salary adjusted pro rata.
This salary is subject to the Living Wage Supplement that tops up the basic rate of pay to £9.50 per hour. The supplement will be reviewed every April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage Supplement.
