Our South Hubs Team is looking to employ a Corporate Trainees to work across South Hubs :
Grangetown Hub - Havelock Place, Grangetown, Cardiff CF11 6PE.
STAR Hub - Muirton Road, Splott, Cardiff CF24 2SJ
Butetown Youth Pavilion Hub - Dumballs Road, Butetown, Cardiff CF10 5FE
Butetown Hub - Plas Iona CF10 5HW
Our team provide a face to face service to the citizens of Cardiff. We provide help and support with Universal Credit, Welfare Benefits, Council Tax, Housing, bus passes for the elderly and disabled, free school meals, education, bulky waste orders as well as a variety of other council services including library provision and community hub events.
Butetown Pavilion Youth Hub is the first youth hub in the city. The facility delivers a new space where current youth service provision is complemented by the provision of additional services. These services are geared towards helping prepare young people for work, with a focus on careers in the creative industries as well as helping to engage young people in a wide range of training opportunities.
About the job
In this Corporate Trainee role, you will support our service and will learn to develop general office administration skills for example, using word and excel, answering the telephone, using IT daily, helping customers with their enquiries and developing excellent customer service skills. You will also provide a front-of-house service and support customers to digitally self-serve where possible. The service team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties.
Please note that community hubs are open from 9am – 6pm plus one late night a week closing at 7pm and Saturday from 9am – 5.30 pm. You will be required to work on a rota basis, and this will include some evening and weekend work. In addition, you may also be required to work from Butetown Pavilion with opening hours of: 9am-10:00pm on a rota basis.
Full training will be provided by our Team who will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training and will have a named mentor to support you to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer focused manner.
The Corporate Apprentice & Trainee Scheme also provides opportunities to enhance your transferable skills to help support your career progression.
Many of our teams have moved to online and homeworking and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (some support may be available to help with this).

Our Corporate Trainees gain valuable experience working for the largest Council in Wales. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the appointed candidate will go on to secure a further role at the end of this initial contract, they will be supported and encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available within our organisation, in order to progress their career.

This post is temporary for 6 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37 hour week although many roles can be worked on a part time basis.
