About The Service
The Resources Directorate is responsible for a wide range of corporate services, serving the whole council, and plays a vital role in supporting the operational Directorates in the delivery of their services.
Central Transport Services (CTS) is based within the Resources Directorate and a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, motivated individual to play a key role in delivering continuous improvement within the Service, based at our ‘state of the art’ facility at Coleridge Road, Grangetown, Cardiff.
About the job
This is a new position and the postholder will proactively manage the compliance of the Council’s Operator License and will also manage the Service’s three workshops ensuring all jobs are completed within timeframes, make sure all work is carried out to the highest quality standards and ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to.
As a qualified Transport Manager, you will be named on the Council’s Operator License, and working with the Operational Manager for CTS and Operational Finance, you will ensure that the Council operates within the undertakings and assurances of the Operator License, and you will develop and maintain an audit framework so that our Operating Centres are fully compliant and adhere with Council policies and procedures.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing a performance management framework for the workshops to improve performance and customer service.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic manager, who has experience in managing a busy workshop or transport operation.
You will have detailed knowledge of the relevant transport legislation and have a Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build successful relationships and trust with a wide range of partners.
You will have a proven track record in leading, motivating and developing staff.
An ability to work to deadlines, respond to competing priorities and manage a wide range of stakeholders will be essential.
Additional information
A full and valid driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
