Cardiff is growing faster than any other capital city in Europe and we have exciting opportunities to join our Street Scene Services, in the delivery of frontline waste operations providing a high standard of service to the businesses of Cardiff.

About the job

As Weekend Driver/Loader within the Trade Team, you will be responsible for collecting waste and recycling materials throughout the City. You will drive and maintain any allocated vehicle to facilities the collections ensuring excellent customer services at all times. You will also be responsible for completing daily returns information ensuring any vehicle defects is reported. EU tachograph legislation must be managed and adhered to at all times.

Please note: This post is 27.45 hours per week with operational hours Saturday to Monday 6.00 am – 3.45 pm.

** (Saturday and/or Sunday work as part of the normal working week will be paid as an enhancement of time plus a half for the hours worked)

Where Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s day fall on a contracted working day, subsequent catch up days, which may include weekend working, will be a mandatory requirement

What We Are Looking For From You

A Class 2 Driving Licence is essential for this role as well as training in or knowledge of Manual Handling Techniques and Health & Safety at work.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within a large operational team and direct public contact with excellent customer service skills. You will also need to have experience of driving large goods vehicles.
