Cardiff is growing faster than any other major city in the UK outside of London and is projected to grow more than every other local authority in Wales combined. Cardiff Council’s Transport White Paper and One Planet Cardiff Strategy set out ambitious plans to tackle the climate emergency, reduce congestion and improve air quality in the Welsh capital. A critical part in the delivery of these plans is to support the transition to Electric Vehicles.
This is a superb opportunity to be at the heart of one of the most exciting and dynamic economies in the UK at an exciting time in the City’s development whilst tackling the causes of climate change and changing how people move around our growing city.
About the job
You will be at the forefront of leading the development and delivery of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure on the highway. You will work collaboratively and flexibly across the council and with external partners to deliver comprehensive and innovative highway charging services for the city.
You will need to have a clear vision of the strategic challenges as a well as an eye for the detail in delivery and operation. You will be our specialist in this area.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will need to be able to think commercially and develop business plans to ensure the long-term delivery of services. You should have extensive experience in working in the transport, Highways or Climate Change fields. Above all you will have significant experience of working in the electric vehicle infrastructure sector.
Sound project and contract management skills that you have successfully applied to infrastructure-based projects will be essential.
You will also be able to demonstrate where you have worked in partnership with a range of partners on complex projects and challenged accepted norms. You will have confidence to lead project teams and be an advocate for responding to the Climate Emergency.

This is a 3 year fixed term post.
