About The Service
The team is responsible for delivering a front-line service. We deliver a variety of road safety and active travel initatives to children, young people and adults who live, work or study in Cardiff.
About the job
The purpose of the 2 new posts is to plan, support and deliver independent travel training to children and young people with additional learning needs. The trainees will be in year 6 and above.
The training will generally be delivered on a 1:1 basis, with the aim of providing trainees with the necessary skills and confidence to travel independently to and from their education provision using public transport. Training will also be delivered 1:1 or in small groups during the day.
Training generally involves the use of buses but could also consist of train journeys.
In your training period you will work with existing members of the team to shadow them during 1:1 independent travel training and group sessions.
We currently offer fully trained staff the opportunity to work partially from home if this is appropriate and you have a safe, secure area to work.
