About The Service
The Into Work Advice Service provides a complete employment package to people across the city, who are actively seeking employment or looking to upskill; the team is able to offer support and intensive mentoring through externally funded projects, volunteering opportunities and access to free digital and work skills training courses.
The Into Work Advice Service is made up of a number of different streams including, the Gateway (job club support), Adult Mentoring, Youth Mentoring, Volunteering, Employer Liaison and the Onsite Construction Academy, Adult Learning, Digital Skills, Cardiff Works and Quality & Performance.
About the job
The Into Work Manager will be responsible for each of the managers of the different teams (named above) including the Council’s in-house agency, Cardiff Works, and will be responsible for the Council’s Agency Managed Framework.
The role will have overall management of the service and will be responsible for sourcing and successfully applying for funding, to continue this priority service post-Brexit, after the withdrawal of European Social Funding. The role will also lead the service with a strategic direction and ensure that actions fit into the Local Authority, Cardiff Commitment, City Deal, Welsh Government and external funding provider strategies.
The Into Work Manager will work strategically with employers and organisations who offer community benefits, to act as a brokerage support to assist Into Work customers access greater opportunities, included guaranteed interviews, work placements, and job vacancies.
The role will look to adapt the service according to the needs of the economic landscape, ensuring customers are supported with up to date employment and skills assistance, addressing the skills gap within the city, by providing employers with work-ready, skilled candidates.
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of employment and skills and will have the ability to lead, plan and manage change. A strong track record of managing resources and performance effectively is essential, as is the ability to achieve excellent outcomes for customers.
The right individual will have the vision to identify future opportunities for service development, have a proven track record of delivering large-scale change programmes with the ability to plan strategically for the needs of the service
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Advice Management Team; you will need to motivate and influence others, work cooperatively across services areas and with partners and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
Additional information
The post will be required to work from a number of different locations, including County Hall, Central Library Hub and other Community Hub buildings.
