Cardiff Dogs Home Kennel Assistant Ref:  Grade: 3 Salary: £18,887 to £20,043  (pro-rata) 21 hours – 3 days per week

 

Do you love dogs? We are currently looking for a 21 hour Part Time Kennel Assistant at Cardiff Dogs Home. As part of a very busy frontline service you will be required to assist the Council in discharging its responsibilities relating to stray dogs and encouraging responsible dog ownership. Work days will vary.

About the job

The core tasks are caring for and handling dogs in a kennel environment including cleaning, feeding and exercising them, looking after their health and assisting vets. You will be dealing with queries and complaints from members of the public in relation to the impounding of stray dogs and their subsequent return to owner or re-homing.

Other tasks will include updating the website, using Council IT systems, keeping records up to date, micro-chipping, undertaking cleaning and disinfection of the kennels and feeding of the dogs.

  • Experience of administering and recording medication for dogs
  • Experience of the assessment of canine behaviour

This post is part-time and you will work 21 hours per week over 3 days on a flexible basis.  The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly
