An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed individual with excellent customer care skills to join our Into Work Advice Service Team.

Into Work Advice Service provides employment support for people across Cardiff. We have many bespoke projects specifically aimed at 16-24 year olds, giving them the advice, guidance and support required to successfully transition into employment or training.

About the job

This post will work on our Bright Start Scheme, which offers work placements for 16-24 year old Looked After or Care Experienced young people in Cardiff. The role will involve supporting young people throughout their placement to ensure it is successful and meaningful experience that will lead to future employment.

Each young person will have a Youth Employment Mentor from the Bright Futures Project, who will support them with CV’s, job searching and training. They will refer young people to the Bright Start Scheme so they can complete a six month work placement.

The key responsibilities within this role will be to:-

  • Organise and implement a week long pre-employment training pack
  • Complete all paperwork accurately
  • Update databases on a daily basis
  • Provide day-to-day support to young people on their placement
  • Ensure young people are paid their ‘Training Allowance’ on time each week
  • Attend placements at pre-agreed times each week
  • Work with the Employment Liaison Team to ensure all support is available and set up prior to a placement beginning
  • Access the ‘Barrier Fund’ to provide young people with financial assistance where needed
  • Provide feedback on placements at monthly team meetings
  • Assist placement providers wherever required

Evening and/or weekend working may be required.

What We Are Looking For From You

You will have experience of working with young people on a face to face basis and a commitment to providing a high quality customer service. You will have good communication and IT skills, and the ability to resolve disputes in a positive and constructive manner.

You will work well in a team, have excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach.

You will understand the issues young people may have; and will have a caring and empathetic approach when providing employment support.

The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, Somali, Arabic or Polish would be an advantage.
