The Highways Infrastructure and Operations service provides the management and maintenance of Cardiff’s 1,100km of highway network. An opportunity has arisen in the PROW & Assessment team that forms part of the Assets and Engineering service area.
About the job
The successful candidate will provide advice, support, and management to ensure the delivery of a high quality and effective highway maintenance service. Duties include; undertaking scheme design and programme preparation for highway improvement works, resurfacing and reconstruction, providing on-site representation and supervision, management and monitoring of contracts and contractor performance, coordinating inspection resources and the investigation and resolution of customer complaints. This role will involve a high level of interaction with stakeholders, including; Council Members, public, contractors and other Council departments. The post holder may be required to work outside normal hours from time to time, including evenings and weekends.
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidate will hold a HNC/HND or similar qualification in civil engineering or be able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience in this discipline. You will have experience of working in highway maintenance, managing and delivering highway improvement schemes and resurfacing and reconstruction programmes with strong customer service skills and an understanding of highway asset management. Strong ICT skills are essential as the role will require continual use of the AMX asset management software.
