About The Service

This role forms part of a restructure, Cardiff Council employees including Cardiff Works employees and other agency workers working for Cardiff Council will be given prior consideration. 

The Gypsy Traveller Service forms part of the Supported Accommodation and Assessment Section and provides culturally appropriate accommodation, suitable to the needs of the Gypsy & Traveller Community. Through sites, site management deliver the following provisions:

 

  • Dedicated housing management service
  • Repairs and maintenance service
  • Support Services

 

The service are currently implementing ambitious plans focusing on health, education and additional accommodation, creating an exciting opportunity for individuals to join the team as the service continues to grow in the future.

About the job

We are recruiting for

2 x Maintenance and Support Operatives (Gypsy Traveller Services) who will be responsible for:

Providing a comprehensive maintenance service to communal areas of the Gypsy & Traveller sites.

Carrying out repairs to all council owned property and buildings contained within these sites to include, carpentry services, electrical and plumbing maintenance proportionate to the role and within post holders skillset.

To contribute to the overall day to day function and play an active part in the development of the Gypsy & Traveller services. 

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate an appropriate qualifications and training in a trade, for example carpentry, plumbing, electrical or grounds maintenance.

Previous experience of providing maintenance and repairs in a domestic or commercial environment.    

You will be a proactive individual, who can demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply health and safety practices and conform to legislation.

This role will form part of on call rota, outside of normal office hours.

A full and valid driving licence and access to own vehicle is an essential requirement of this role.
