An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Grade 8 Occupational Therapist to work within the Cardiff & Vale Joint Equipment Store (JES).
About the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for equipment advice or queries about specification, installation, accessories or alternative products and joint visits where appropriate, to support the clinician in researching equipment options for their cases.
The JES OT will be responsible for training and support in relation to TCES as well as Smart House tours. The JES OT will also be responsible for training guides, forms and up to date specification and criteria documents.
As part of the Community Occupational Therapy Team, where appropriate you will also undertake assessments of need and agreeing outcomes with service users and carers. Interventions are likely to include equipment provision and major adaptations.
In addition, the Grade 8 Occupational Therapist will have responsibility for the following:
Line Management and Supervision (both formal and informal) of staff at the following levels:
• Admin Assistant
• Contact Officer
• Occupational Therapy assistant
• Tech Specialist
• Grade 7 Occupational Therapists
You will also be responsible for complex, multifaceted cases including complaints, complex social situations, or those which may result in legal action against the Council. These will be agreed with the Team Manager as appropriate.
To be actively involved in business planning and take lead role for an area of service development, as identified from the business plan each year, with the Team Manager through PPDR.
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidate must also be able to work to strict deadlines and be extremely flexible. You must be able to work autonomously as well as being able to work as part of a team.
You will have excellent communication and organisation skills, and the ability to problem solve and provide outcome focused interventions.
Additional information
With effect from 1st April 2024, this role attracts a market supplement of £3,000
(full time equivalent). This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.
We are committed to your development and have well-established supervision and Personal Performance and Development schemes, training and CPD programmes (where appropriate), and a Journal club.
It is essential that you have experience of working proactively with clients with physical disabilities and/or older people, hold a full valid driving licence and have use of a vehicle with business insurance.
