About The Service

The Service helps support the delivery of wider corporate priorities such as responding to the climate emergency and assisting with post-pandemic recovery initiatives. It also leads on implementing the placemaking approach as set out by the Welsh Government through our policy-making and Development Management functions together with providing technical and professional support to corporate projects.

 

You will be working for one of the largest employers in Wales, joining an experienced and motivated group of Officers within the Planning Service, which forms part of the Planning Transport and Environment Directorate. As a team we are passionate about protecting the environment, making a positive difference to the people of Cardiff and achieving real outcomes on the ground.

About the job

The role is to be the lead officer in the Planning Service relating to Green Infrastructure.  You will have line management responsibility for a small Team of highly skilled and professional officers. 

 

You will be responsible for the provision of specialist ecological advice relating to planning applications, pre-application advice and development brief documents.

 

You will also support colleagues in the current review of the Cardiff Local Development Plan (LDP) with specific responsibility for Green Infrastructure policies, review local designations and guidance as well undertaking the LDP Habitat Regulation Appraisal.

 

You will also be expected to undertake site surveys and investigations and prepare Habitat Regulations Assessments relating to planning proposals as necessary.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified ecologist or to join a team of professional officers within the Planning Service.
