Cardiff is growing faster than any other capital city in Europe and we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join Recycling Neighbourhood Services, in the delivery of frontline operations providing a high standard of service to the residents of Cardiff.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Project Co-Ordinator to join our innovative Waste Collections frontline team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our waste services, as well as the administrative back office functions, maintaining a high standard of service for the residents of Cardiff.

About the job

As Project Co-ordinator you will ensure excellent service delivery across Recycling Neighbourhood Services, whilst identifying cross service needs, working with all departments and agencies to ensure an exemplar service across all areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily operations to ensure optimal performance and compliance with council policies, industry regulations, and service standards.
  • Analyse operational data and generate reports to provide insights that inform management decisions.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the Collections and Transport Manager, Operational Support, and frontline teams, ensuring services are fully resourced and responsive to operational challenges.
  • Monitor budgets, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, service quality, and customer experience.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety policies and procedures, safeguarding staff, the public, and the environment.

With millions of waste collections occurring annually, you will be integral to the city's efforts to maintain cleanliness and sustainability. Your role will directly contribute to the well-being of the community and the environment while ensuring excellent service delivery and adherence to Health and Safety policies and procedures.

What We Are Looking For From You

  • Proven project management skills, demonstrating good knowledge of research techniques to ensure business development delivery
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably within a waste collections environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of tackling challenges and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where no two days are the same, and be willing to make a significant impact.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • You will need to be able to multi-task, take ownership of issues and be IT literate in most Microsoft packages.

Additional information

A full, valid driving licence is essential for this post.

Working knowledge of waste and recycling operations is important, along with the ability to quickly adapt to the technologies used by the service. An understanding of and adherence to Council Policies and Procedures is required, as is maintaining the reputation of the Council through a professional and courteous approach.
