Sitting within the Planning, Transport & Environment Directorate, The Transportation Programme Team are responsible for delivering key programmes and projects associated with the Council White Paper Transport Vision. Projects include city centre development, cycleways, bus priority, SMART Corridors, parking strategy, parking projects and traffic regulation orders.
About the job
As a Project Manager (Section Leader) in the Transportation Programme team you will lead on the development, project management and delivery of key transformational projects associated with Cardiff Council’s Transport Vision and White Paper.
You could be leading on key transport projects such as Cycleways, City Centre Development Projects, Bus Corridors, Pedestrian Improvements, Bridges and Canals. In an exciting and transformational period for the City’s transport network, you will be placed at the heart of moving things to the next level. Acting as the Client under CDM Regulations, you will be required to use Project Management tools and techniques to manage Transport Projects from inception through to completion on site.
You will lead a team of Project Officers, Consultants and Contractors and ensure effective and correct Programme/Project Governance is applied at all stages. You will be required to apply clear and regular project reporting methods back up to the Programme Manager and communicate with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will have experience of leading projects from start to finish. A good knowledge of Cardiff’s transport infrastructure and landscape is essential. You will need experience of delivering complex change projects, managing contracts and a good level of stakeholder management experience is essential.
- Whilst the post offers flexible home working arrangement, candidates must be able to travel in to Cardiff at any time, and preferably 1-2 days per week. Local knowledge is essential.
- Project Management experience in Transport is not essential, other industry Project Management experience will be considered.
