As a long-term endeavour, the Cardiff Capital Region is built on a functional economic geography, covering the ten Local Authorities of South-East Wales, that is constantly adapting to tackle the big industrial, public policy and societal challenges of the day. The evolution of the region from a single programme-City Deal, to a multi-partner, multi-programme corporate legal entity (Corporate Joint Committee), offers significant opportunities for a new, more effective and ambitious type of regional public investment.

About the job

The role of Public Services Innovation Manager will involve embedding innovation across our public services to deliver on the biggest challenges being faced now and to help to prepare for and shape the future. This will involve working directly with the CCR Innovation, Skills and Challenge teams and, in doing so building the skills and capacity for innovation.

Three key areas of the role include:

  1. Sustain, connect and build upon innovation networks and practitioner communities across the CCR.
  2. Creation of a federated and mission-led model for innovative future public services.
  3. To develop a collective approach to innovation across the Cardiff Capital Region realising CCR ambitions of a world class innovation ecosystem for the region.

 

What We Are Looking For From You

You will have a highly developed cross-sectoral understanding of innovation ecosystems including the research landscape, skills, key organisations and a good understanding of funding and investment vehicles. In particular, the successful candidate will have experience of working closely with public service leaders, innovator communities and representative bodies in order to set a vision, strategic direction and an action roadmap, which will ensure we can achieve the vision for innovation at CCR.

You will have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability, focus and drive to contribute to the delivery of complex high-profile programmes.

This vacancy incorporates some remote working, but it is preferable to be located within the Cardiff Capital Region.

This post is temporary until 30th September 2025.
