Cardiff Council is a local government organisation responsible for delivering over 700 different services to our citizens, visitors and businesses across Cardiff.
Cardiff Bereavement Services is a multi-award winning service operating a crematorium and 8 cemeteries across Cardiff delivering a high standard of service to the bereaved and service users in a most sensitive working environment. The receptionist will be based at Thornhill Crematorium enquiries office and will be the first point of contact for service users. We pride ourselves is providing excellent customer services and are therefore looking for a customer focused individual to join our front line team in the delivery of exceptional customer care.

About the job

You will be part of a dedicated team in a busy front line office, working 37 hours per week. The role will require the successful candidate to provide a professional and sympathetic (first point of contact) service to callers and visitors to the main enquiries office for Bereavement Services. You will assist the public with general enquiries; be responsible for managing incoming and outgoing mail; cash handling and provide administrative support to the Bereavement Services team.

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and interested in making a difference to our customers by delivering exceptional public services in Cardiff. We are looking for someone who has previous administration experience in a customer focussed environment who is an excellent communicator with ability to communicate effectively in both English and Welsh. The successful candidate must have the ability to be attentive to detail, competent in the use of IT systems and has ability to deal with often distressed individuals in an emphatic way.

This vacancy is only available to employees of Cardiff Council including Cardiffworks and Agency Workers currently engaged with the Council.
