About The Service
Cardiff Council is a local government organisation responsible for delivering over 700 different services to our citizens, visitors, and businesses across Cardiff.
Our Recycling and Neighbourhood Services Team is responsible for the collection of household waste and recycling. In addition, it offers around the clock street cleansing services - including street sweeping, litter picking and litter bin emptying - to ensure that we provide a clean and safe environment for the residents of Cardiff.
We are looking for HGV drivers to support the operation of our Household Waste Recycling Centres based at Lamby Way and Bessemer Close.
About the job
You will be responsible for safely transporting both full and empty skips between Household Waste Recycling Centres across the City, using a hooklift vehicle. You will play a key role in ensuring that we recycle as much of the Cities waste as possible, ensuring all waste movements are accurately recorded in line with legislative requirements.
What We Are Looking For From You
Our customers depend on us to keep delivering services even in the most challenging of times. We are looking for individuals who are interested in our work, keen to learn in the role and in helping us making a difference to our customers by delivering exceptional public services in Cardiff.
You will have a proven track record of driving heavy goods vehicles and ideally hold a current CPC. You will be able to complete paperwork as required by the role, and work well as part of a team.
Additional information
The post is based on a 37 hour week, but the site operates 7 days a week. You will be given fixed shifts, and if one of your shifts is on a Saturday or Sunday, you will receive enhancements for this.
Holding a full valid HGV licence is essential.
