About The Service

Cardiff School Based Counselling Service is a highly valued service providing an independent school based counselling service in all maintained secondary schools and the Pupil Referral Unit. In addition, the Service provides counselling to pupils in Year 6 of primary school as well as offering an ‘Out of Hours’ service

About the job

We are looking for two experienced school based counsellors to join the team on a permanent basis to assist in meeting the demand for school based counselling services.

As a school based counsellor you will work in secondary schools, with primary aged pupils in Year 6, and other settings within the Local Authority. The service operates a face to face counselling service in schools.

The role will require working with school based links to agree referrals and provide appropriate feedback.

Post holders will have regular access to clinical and managerial supervision as well as continuing professional development opportunities.

The post is to commence on the 1st September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

What We Are Looking For From You

You will hold a professional diploma in counselling as well as post qualification supervised  experience of providing counselling to children and young people.

You must be registered / accredited with the BACP/UKCP or equivalent

Ideally you will have experience of working in schools.

You will have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures.

Additional information

These posts are term time only, 25 hours per week, for 39 weeks per year. The salary shown however relates to 52 weeks per year and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.
