About The Service
The Money Advice & Welfare Liaison Teams are a welfare and benefits focused service that sees approximately 1500 people a month, identifying financial support, grants and discounts and dealing with debt. The Team is changing due to the demand and the essential need of people visiting the 20+ locations a week that the team are committed to attending.
About the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed individual with excellent customer care skills and a high standard of knowledge on Welfare Benefits and Money Advice.
The successful candidate will provide advice on Welfare Benefits, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction as well Grants and Discounts and schemes or projects run by Cardiff Council or external partners. They will assist Council Contract Holders to set up affordable repayment agreements towards their rent and/or Council Tax debt.
These services are to be delivered in person, telephone, web chat or in writing.
You will be working with internal teams and external partners to provide comprehensive advice and guidance.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will have experience of working with customers on a face to face and a commitment to providing a high-quality customer service. You will have good communication and IT skills and the ability to resolve disputes in a positive and constructive manner.
You will work well in a team, have excellent time management and a flexible approach.
You will have a high standard of knowledge of the topics involved in Money Advice support, namely;
Welfare Benefits and Income Maximisation
Council Tax and Council Tax Reduction
Disability Benefits and appeals
Grants, Discounts, Cost of Living Support and schemes associated with the support of those on low/irregular income
Referrals and signposting
The successful candidate will also be able to support new starters as well as offering experience of good customer service in a benefit related environment.
The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, Somali, Arabic or Polish would be an advantage.
Additional information
There are 3 permanent posts available.
Occasional evening and weekend working will be required.
These posts are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
