About The Service

The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), and administered by Cardiff Council. The Fund has 42 participating employers and over 45,000 Active, Deferred and Pensioner members.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team and undertake the role of Senior Pensions Assistant within the Pensions Administration Team, providing information and support to Scheme Members, Employers and other relevant stakeholders.

About the job

You will be responsible for dealing with all aspects of pensions administration including joiners and leavers, accurately updating scheme member records, responding to verbal and written scheme member queries and liaising with Employers to ensure that accurate and sufficient information is held on the member’s record.

You will be responsible for the calculation all pension benefits, including transfers in and out of the Scheme, deferred benefits, aggregations, retirements and death benefits. You will also check refunds, provide day to day technical support for junior members of staff and peer check work of officers of the same grade or below (as required).

What We Are Looking For From You

You will need to demonstrate a flexible attitude to work and the ability to work efficiently under pressure, excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, both verbal and written, excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills, which are integral to this role and an ability to work to statutory deadlines.

You will also demonstrate the capability to use computer systems, including Microsoft applications.

Full training will be given both by the team and external providers, but the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate their ability to gain an understanding of how the pension scheme works and the benefits that the scheme offers.

We will support the successful candidate to study for a professional qualification in Pensions Administration.
