Sitting within the Planning, Transport & Environment Directorate, The Transportation Programme Team are responsible for delivering key programmes and projects associated with the Council White Paper Transport Vision. Projects include city centre development, cycleways, bus priority schemes, taxi projects, and the management of the Council’s cycle hire scheme.
About the job
As a Senior Project Manager in the Transportation Programme team you will lead on the development, programming, project management and delivery of key transformational projects associated with Cardiff Council’s Transport Vision and White Paper.
You will be responsible for the delivery of innovative solutions across the city including Cycleways, City Centre Transport, Bus Priority Projects and/or Smart Transport Technology. You will work directly to the Transportation Programme Manager and will be required to use Programme/Project Management tools to manage Transport Programmes and/or multiple Transport Projects from inception through to completion on site. You will lead a team of Project Managers, Project Officers, Consultants and Contractors and ensure effective and correct Programme/Project Governance is applied at all stages. You will also be responsible for managing and communicating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

What We Are Looking For From You
You will have experience of leading complex projects and programmes from start to finish. A good knowledge of Cardiff’s transport infrastructure and landscape is essential. You will need experience of delivering complex change programmes in a fast-paced environment, and a strong track record of successfully managing key stakeholders at all levels.
