About The Service
An opportunity is available within the Council’s Performance and Partnerships Team for a Senior Research Officer who is interested in supporting the Council’s consultation and engagement agenda.
The role will be in the Cardiff Research and Engagement Centre, which is made up of consultation and engagement specialists and is responsible for understanding and disseminating the views of stakeholders on a broad range of issues.
The work of the Team is closely aligned to the strategic priorities of the organisation and our public service partners and will work closely with all Council services areas to help them understand the views of citizens.
About the job
You will be part of a highly motivated, dedicated, and supportive team, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and supporting public service delivery.
The role will be responsible for successfully delivering a range of commissioned research work to deliver an agreed income target every year, as well as supporting key corporate projects including the Ask Cardiff Survey (a comprehensive, city wide citizen satisfaction survey), the Budget Consultation and a range of other commissioned surveys.
The successful candidate will lead on a wide range of consultation and engagement projects, producing high quality reports based on robust primary research methodologies.
There will be ample opportunity for personal and professional development, including training relevant to the role.
The Council has adopted hybrid working practices which apply to this role, meaning most of the work can be undertaken either in the office, at home, or at another suitable location. There will still be a requirement to visit the office occasionally for meetings, plus engagement work out in the community as needed, which may require occasional evening or weekend work.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for an individual with extensive experience of managing research and engagement projects and a demonstrable ability to undertake robust primary research.
You will be able to gather, analyse and interpret data for reports, and have strong communication and writing skills to present information clearly and effectively for a range of different audiences, from senior managers to end users.
You will have experience of initiating and managing research projects which have a focus on the utilisation of data and business intelligence, with an aim to improve organisational performance.
A good level of ICT competency will be a pre-requisite, specifically, familiarity with Microsoft Office. Experience of more specialist tools, such as Microsoft Power BI, Snap or NVivo would also be advantageous.
