About The Service
Bilingual Cardiff's remit is to take a leading role in developing a fully bilingual Cardiff where the citizens and staff of Cardiff Council can access services and support of the same standard in English and Welsh. The team is responsible for facilitating and promoting the Welsh language in Cardiff in conjunction with our partners and assists the Council in complying with its statutory duty to provide services in Welsh, which includes a full translation service.

Do you want to see the Welsh language grow and flourish in Cardiff and be part of our vision to create a truly bilingual Cardiff? If so, this may be the job for you! The Bilingual Cardiff unit at Cardiff Council is looking for two Senior Translators to join the team.
The successful candidate(s) is expected to have a good degree in Welsh or equivalent with significant experience as a translator. The successful candidate is expected to be a member of the Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters or be willing to sit the exam. This is a position for which the ability to speak Welsh is an essential requirement
What We Are Looking For From You
You will have the highest quality translation and proofreading skills, and assist the relevant Head Translator with duties relating to the quality assurance, translation systems and workload.
The ability to work under pressure and finish work on time as well as the ability to work in a methodical and disciplined manner is absolutely essential to this job as is the ability to operate and communicate in Welsh with English.
The role will be quite flexible with regards to both hours worked and location, and we invite candidate from all over Wales. Therefore your work hours can vary in a way that is convenient for you, on the condition that service needs are met.

The successful applicants should be able to communicate effectively in Welsh to Level 5 – Proficiency. This post is suitable for job sharing. We welcome applications in both English and Welsh.
