Cardiff Youth Service offers a range of provisions for young people aged 11-25 and consists of a talented and enthusiastic team of professional youth workers who operate across the city.  This set up consists of youth centres, specialist provisions, youth mentoring and street based youth work teams that all provide a wide variety of creative opportunities and experiences that encourage the participation and development of young people in communities.

About the job

This job is based at: Powerhouse Youth Activity Centre

An excellent opportunity exists to work directly with a staff team and young people to create innovative and engaging activities for young people 11-25 years in a community context. 

You will manage a small team to co-produce youth work activities and opportunities that fully engage young people to affect issues that directly impact them. 

Rights based practice will be at the centre of everything you do with a specific focus on giving a voice to vulnerable and marginalised young people.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic youth worker that will encourage creativity and innovation, to inspire and motivate young people through youth and community interventions.

You will have a proven track record of using innovative and creative programmes to engage young people and can evidence your experience of leading a team to achieve positive outcomes for young people.   

We are looking for youth workers that instil a positive attitude and resilience to be able to impact positively on the lives of young people and encourage their progression.

The successful candidate will be qualified or currently working towards at least youth support worker level 3 and will be professionally qualified and registered with the Education Workforce Council. 

You will be able to evidence a proven track record of working in a rights-based and strength based approach.

The successful candidate will have experience of assessing the needs of young people in a locality and then responding appropriately through advocacy and brokerage with a range of partners and providers.

We are looking for a proactive individual who has a clear understanding of how to navigate the support landscape in Cardiff and work collaboratively within a neighbourhood area.

Salary: £31,152 - £34,015 per annum PRO RATA (T00 3 Level 20-23)
