About The Service

Cardiff Cleaning is a function within the Economic Development Property Services Group, which provides support to all Council owned buildings. The cleaning service provide cleaning resources of over 500 cleaning operatives to 150 Council owned sites throughout the County. The majority of cleaning is undertaken in early mornings, late afternoons and evenings. Our cleaning teams ranges from over twenty in our bigger sites, down to individual cleaner on small sites.

Our customers include Schools, Educational establishments, Core Administration buildings, Social Care locations, Libraries, Community HUB’s, Operational Depots, Arts and tourism venues etc.

The service is committed to supporting Council owned buildings by ensuring they are clean and hygienic environments for service users and Council employees. Shortly the service will be operating a more agile working management and supervisory model.

 

About the job

The successful candidate will supervise the cleaning service provision to a group of cleaned establishments owned by the Council and will have the key responsibility of managing our front-line workforce. This position is key in assisting management in ensuring the service meets all the required standards and provides the agreed resources.

This post will actively work with managers and staff across the service to identify improved business process models, which will assist in the improved performance of the cleaning service. Within this role includes the supervision of a large volume ng staff within the service to ensure effective service delivery in line with Council policies and procedures and service requirements.

Critically you will develop and improve partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure that building environments are targeted and improved for the benefit of the workers and service users.

You will be the first point of contact for the cleaning teams managing performance and delegating while ensuring compliance and training needs are met through the team. You will manage client requests and complaints in a timely manner, you will also manage holiday and sick cover to maintain service delivery.

You will be expected to lead from the front, be visible and be present daily on-site with the teams during the mornings/evenings when the majority of our services are delivered. In addition to managing your time to visit the customers, attend meetings, complete reports and general staff administration during the day.

What We Are Looking For From You

This post is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a committed individual with excellent supervisory and customer focus skills.

You will have proven experience of supervising staff, leadership, developing teams with excellent communication, organisational and motivational skills.

You should possess clear and effective communication skills with experience of communication with staff, customers and management.

You will have a flexible approach, the ability to build positive working relationships with both customers or staff and manage a demanding workload effectively.

You will likely to be team players who work well under pressure, and remain calm when dealing with challenging and/or difficult situations.

You will also be able to work to strict deadlines and be extremely flexible. You will have experience of working with IT systems.

You will usually work in a mobile environment where you are face to face with your staff and customers using your strong communication, initiative, decision making and analytical skills to ensure the delivery of a timely and responsive customer experience.

You will be required to maintain a high standard of cleaning across the contract and you will be responsible for the supervision of on-site staff. This is a supervisory role but not limited to being hands on when required, you must be physically capable and willing to lead by example when required.

Good experience of tracking, monitoring and reporting progress and taking effective corrective action where necessary.

Experience of effective risk identification and risk management (including Health & Safety implications).

Proven ability to use own initiative to make appropriate decisions.

Ability to deal with conflict, negotiate and influence employees and contractors.
