Cardiff Alcohol and Drug Team is part of Adult Social Services. The Team works collaboratively with a number of partner substance misuse agencies in the city both statutory and third sector.
The team is made up of Social Workers and Support Workers. We undertake assessments with individuals who misuse substances: commission outcome-focussed care and support packages and undertake direct work with individuals. We are committed to Strengths-Based Social Work Practice and working collaboratively with individuals to reduce harmful substance misuse and maximise their independence and wellbeing.
The team are also committed to working in a Trauma –Enhanced way with individuals and you will be offered the opportunity to develop these skills alongside our Strengths-Based practice. About the Job
This is a part-time position of 18.5 hours.
Our Social Workers are valued for the skills and knowledge they bring to the service. They are key to the continued practice of strength-based social work approaches in Cardiff and supporting the use of Trauma-Enhanced approaches with individuals.
The role is based in Cardiff Alcohol and Drug Team, which is a specialist social work team working with individuals with substance misuse issues who have care and support needs. As a Social Worker, you will undertake assessments, draw up care and support plans with individuals identifying their outcomes and commission care and support. You will also be required to manage a busy caseload.
As a Social Worker you will receive regular supervision and when appropriately qualified be expected to supervise unqualified team colleagues. You will have a role in supporting the continued implementation of strength-based practice and of contributing to Quality Assurance in Adult Social Services.
The team provides advice and support to other teams regarding working with those who misuse substances. You will be expected to develop your knowledge of the issues which affect those who use substances, substance misuse treatment options and local pathways. You will also be supported to utilise evidence-based practice with individuals.
What We Are Looking For From You
1. Experience of working with adults and undertaking assessment with those individuals who require support services.
2. Commitment to excellent practice with individuals, families, Carers and Communities.
3. Assessment skills and a clear understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014.
4. Confidence and knowledge in operating within the Mental Capacity Act legal framework. Experience of Court of Protection work and the process is an advantage.
5. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area.
6. A commitment to working closely with colleagues in an established specialist social work team and to multi-professional working with colleagues in statutory and third sector services.
