About The Service

An exciting opportunity has become available at Cardiff Council and we are recruiting for a Support Officer to assist with the managing of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). These are used increasingly to solve today’s transport problems. These systems apply new information and communication technology to maximise the efficiency and safety of the transportation network. The Control Room Team manages these Systems which include: CCTV, Urban Traffic Control Strategic Management, ANPR, Access control, Sign management and environmental monitor & Control.

About the job

As a Control room Operator Officer your role will be to work as a member of a team committed to keep traffic moving safely and reduce congestion in Cardiff through the efficient and effective monitoring and operation of Intelligent Transport Systems.

This is an opportunity to join the rapidly expanding sector of ITS. Applications will be considered from applicants who either have CCTV, ITS experience or can demonstrate how their current skills and knowledge can be transferred and expanded into this post.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent interpersonal skills, and experience working under pressure. You will need to work effectively as part of a team and be flexible and adaptable and possess the ability to evaluate information and identify solutions to meet the needs of the service.

You will also participate in a 24/7 shift system, in which shift allowance hours payments will be made.

You will be able to demonstrate the requirements and experience detailed in the Person Specification.

Training will be provided in the form of specialist courses and on the job.
