Cardiff Council is looking to recruit a Supported Accommodation and Assessment Manager to manage the complex needs service that sits within the newly created Specialist Housing and Support Section.

Cardiff, like many other cities across the United Kingdom, is currently trying to adapt to the pressures being felt within the Housing sector. The Specialist housing service is facing unprecedented challenges, and we are looking for a candidate that can lead this large and diverse section.

This service provides accommodation, advice, and support to single people in housing need who have complex support needs.

The service is substantial and has a wide range of residential buildings across its broad portfolio. The services within the section run 24/7 365 days a year.

This role will have coordination responsibilities for the Assessment Centre and Multi-disciplinary Teams. Therefore, this role will involve extensive partnership work.

About the job

The role of Supported Accommodation and Assessment Manager is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to manage our accommodation and support services provided to vulnerable single people with complex needs.

The post will have responsibility over all aspects of managing a large supported accommodation portfolio.

The Supported Accomodation and Assessment  Manager (complex needs) will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Council’s Single Persons with complex needs Supported Accommodation Service, offering units of accommodation across multiple buildings.
  • Accommodating service users, with a range of complex support needs and to managing staff members, across a 24-hour period 365 days a year
  • To Manage and control the service Budget
  • To contribute to the development of new accommodation and modify existing accommodation to increase available units.
  • To manage and lead the Council’s Complex Needs and Assessment Service. This includes the Targeted Outreach Service.
  • To Co-ordinate the Homeless Multi-disciplinary Team
  • To manage the Council’s relationship with relevant external partners ensuring effective communication, task coordination and challenging service decisions as appropriate.

 

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for dynamic, motivated and creative individuals with the ability to foster positive relationships. The post holder will need to have team management experience and the ability to lead and support a busy team.

This is an exciting opportunity and we are looking for a committed induvial to make a real difference. Proven experience of working with people with complex behaviours and an understanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals will be an advantage.

The working environment can be challenging so the ability to remain calm under pressure will be an advantage. The role will require the successful candidate to support the management team with all aspects of the service.

The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.
