Our Cardiff Bereavement Services is a multi- award winning service that retains a level of 95% customer satisfaction. Our team at Bereavement Services operates a crematorium with two chapels and 8 cemeteries across Cardiff. Customer service is at the heart of what we do and therefore we are looking for a customer focussed individual to join our front line team delivering exceptional standards and customer services.

About the job

Cardiff Council is searching for a qualified and experienced individual to manage and lead its multi-disciplined Bereavement Services team at Cardiff Crematorium & Cemeteries based at Thornhill Road, Cardiff. The role will require the successful candidate to be experienced in managing the day to day operations of a busy service dealing with approximately 2700 cremations and 1200 burials across 8 sites.

You will need to have a good understanding of industry standards, codes of practices and regulations to support a team of officers ensuring processes, procedures and statutory guidelines and regulations are followed. Experience in dealing with all aspects of Public Health funerals would be an advantage but training can be provided. You will be expected to develop a marketing strategy and improve digitalisation for the service. You will support the Operational Manager (Bereavement & Registration Services) with planning and shaping the services and various strategies.

The successful candidate will hold the ICCM Diploma in Cemetery and Crematorium Management or be close to completing gaining this qualification and will have a demonstrable track record working in the bereavement services industry.
