An exciting opportunity exists to join Cardiff Council’s Parks Services as a Trainee Urban Park Ranger.

About the job

As part of the 3-4 year Trainee Scheme you will be required to learn and develop skills that enable you ensure the public have a safe and enjoyable experience visiting Cardiff’s Parks and Open Spaces  supplemented by a tailored programme of in-house practical training, working towards an industry recognised qualification, as well as being involved with seasonal horticultural activities.

What We Are Looking For From You

You will be involved with Community Groups, environmental and biodiversity projects, promoting public safety and awareness, as well as collaborating with the Gardening Teams, Community Rangers, Playground Maintenance Team and the Arboricultural Unit. 

Showing a commitment to complete a structured programme of training, you will gain the knowledge, understanding of the enforcement of Parks’ byelaws. Additionally, you will actively be involved with joint operations with Parks colleagues and external organisations, ie. emergency services.

This salary is subject to the Living Wage Supplement that tops up the basic rate of pay to £9.50 per hour. The supplement will be reviewed every April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage Supplement.
