About The Service

The Council’s Transport Vision, Policy and Strategy team is playing a major role in managing Cardiff’s rapid growth and responding to the climate emergency. We are currently taking forward a range of projects set out in the recently-published Transport White Paper that seeks to transform Cardiff’s transport system, increase sustainable travel, provide cleaner air and improve the health and wellbeing of Cardiff residents.

About the job

Based in Transport Vision, Policy and Strategy team, this post is an exciting opportunity to play an active part in re-shaping the city and delivering the Council’s ambitious sustainable and active travel agenda set out in the Transport White Paper. This will involve working on a range of transport infrastructure projects, designed to make Cardiff’s roads and streets safer and more conducive to people making daily journeys on foot, bicycle and public transport as an alternative to travelling by car - from helping to build key strategic routes on Cardiff’s Active Travel Integrated Network Map, to delivering active travel to schools schemes, and finding solutions to local traffic and road safety problems.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will have a firm commitment to sustainable and active travel. Through having a relevant qualification, training or equivalent previous experience, they will be capable of effectively managing all aspects of project delivery within a multi-disciplinary environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with colleagues, Council Members and external partners and stakeholders is an essential part of this role.

Additional information

The post is temporary 31.03.22 although there may be opportunities for further employment within the team beyond this period, subject to budgets.
