Our HR Apprenticeship Team is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) to contribute to our HR Service. Although this role will be based at County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff, CF10 4UW, it will involve working online from home and/or a mix of home and office (hybrid) working.
The HR Apprenticeship Team provide a range of engagement programmes including opportunities for young people to gain paid and unpaid work experience across the Council to support their future employment goals. The Apprenticeship Team are the central point for customer enquiries, and contacts teams across the Council to secure unpaid work experience placements. The team also support employees at all grades to access apprenticeship qualifications to support their professional development and helps teams across the Council to create new paid Apprentice and Trainee roles for recruitment. The team also organise and attend engagement events across our Cardiff communities to promote our varied career paths and Cardiff Council as employer at schools, colleges, universities, job fairs and other events.

About the job
In this Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) role, you will learn to be the first point of contact for internal and external customer enquiries, providing information and accurate and effective administration. You will help source unpaid work experience opportunities across the Council and provide administration support to our Apprenticeship and Engagement Events programmes to promote our varied career paths and the Council as employer.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will develop a network of professional contacts; assist with organising and attending events; and use a variety of IT applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint and other organisational systems. You will gain a general understanding of the role of the Human Resources (HR) department, including Talent and Engagement activities, HR policies and processes, learning and development, data management, and the wider work of our other HR teams. Depending on your progress, skills and interests, there may be opportunities to contribute to drafting written articles, artwork, social media content or technology updates in this apprentice role.
To support your development, you will undertake a Welsh Government Apprenticeship Framework Qualification in Digital Skills for Business Level 3 in the role and will receive on the job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer focussed manner. You will also be supported by your manager and a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferrable skills to support your career progression.
Many of our teams work online with a mix of home or hybrid (office) working. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment and training, however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (support may be available to help with this).
The role will involve some occasional travel to locations around the city for events.

This post is temporary for 24 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37-hour week though many roles can be worked on a part time basis at a minimum of 16 hours per week for apprentice roles.
