Bryn y Deryn is an KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for 90 learners who have behavioural, emotional, mental health and social difficulties. This position is based at the KS4 site in Mynachdu.

Bryn y Deryn provides education and wellbeing for learners with challenging behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. Carnegie Centre provides education and wellbeing for learners with anxiety-based school avoidance. High quality learning and excellent care, support and guidance are at the heart of our school. These Teaching Assistant roles will be based primarily outside the classroom supporting Trauma-Informed practises and attendance in school/lessons.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful applicant will work as part of a team and have previous experience of working with learners who have behaviour social and mental health problems, knowledge and experience of Trauma-Informed Schools, be able to improve learner’s attendance in school and lessons, and be able to empathise with learners’ difficulties. They will be able to support teaching and learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual learners. This is an opportunity for persons with empathy, energy, commitment and enthusiasm to make a positive impact to the school and young people.

Additional information

This post is part time and will work 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.

This post attracts an ALN allowance of £527.61 per annum.

These posts have a requirement for registration with the Education Workforce Council.
