About The Service

You will earn £23,152 a year working full time (37 hour a week), or £12 per hour pro rata, as we are a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.

Our South Hubs Team is looking to employ 3x Corporate Trainee to work across South Hubs:

Butetown Youth Pavilion Hub - Dumballs Road, Butetown, Cardiff CF10 5FE
Riverside Warehouse Centre - 56 Machen Place CF11 6EQ
Butetown Hub - Plas Ione CF10 5HW

Our team provide a face to face service to the citizens of Cardiff. We provide help and support with Universal Credit, Welfare Benefits, Council Tax, Housing, bus passes for the elderly and disabled, free school meals, education, bulky waste orders as well as a variety of other council services including library provision, organise community hub events and deliver children activities.

Butetown Pavilion Youth Hub is the first youth hub in the city. The facility delivers a new space where current youth service provision is complemented by the provision of additional services. These services are geared towards helping prepare young people for work, with a focus on careers in the creative industries as well as helping to engage young people in a wide range of training opportunities.

Having a community youth place for young people has become more vital than ever. The Riverside Warehouse offers a place for children, teenagers, and young people to gather, socialise, and engage in various activities. The demand has increased to provide a safe and supportive environment for children, youth, and adults to interact, learn, and grow.

Cardiff Council delivers over 700 different services to residents of Cardiff, visitors, and businesses across the city. About the job

In this Corporate Trainee role, you will support our service and will learn to develop general office administration skills for example, using word and excel, answering telephone, using IT daily, helping customers with their enquiries and developing excellent customer service skills, assist in organising community events, and delivering children’s activities. You will also provide a front-of-house service and support customers to digitally self-serve where possible. The service team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties.

Please note that community hubs are open from 9am – 6pm plus one late night a week closing at 7pm and Saturday from 9am – 5.30 pm. You will be required to work on a rota basis, and this will include some evening and weekend work. In addition, you may also be required to work from Butetown Pavilion/ Riverside Warehouse centre with opening hours of: 9am-9:00pm on a rota basis.

To support your development, you will receive on the job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer focused manner. You will also be supported by a named mentor to who will encourage you to develop a range of transferable skills to support your career progression.
