You will earn £24,309 a year working full time (37 hour a week), or £12.60 per hour pro rata, as we are a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.
Our Design Construction and Maintenance Team (DC&M) is looking to employ a Corporate Trade Apprentice Electrician (Level 3) based at Queen Alexandra House, Cargo Road, Cardiff, CF10 4LY to contribute to our Service helping us to deliver an exceptional, professional and value for money service to our clients. We are a team of electricians who provide a wide range of electrical services to the schools and corporate buildings belonging to Cardiff Council. We take great pride in ensuring that these buildings are safe for the Council staff who work out of them, for the pupils who study in them and for any members of the public who visit them.

About the job
In this Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) role you will learn to:
The apprentice will train alongside experienced electricians within the Cardiff council design, construction and maintenance team. Working on the schools and corporate buildings belonging to Cardiff council. With attendance at college to attain accreditation as a commercial electrician:
The role will involve:
- Install new power and lighting systems.
- Carry out reactive repair works.
- Work on electrical systems associated with new installations, alterations to existing installations and refurbishments.
- Undertake Electrical inspections.
- Undertake Electrical inspection and testing.
- Installing new EV Charging Points.
- Electrical Health and safety compliance.
To support your development, you will undertake a Welsh Government Apprenticeship Framework Electrotechnical Installation Level 3 Qualification in the role, and will receive on the job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer focussed manner. You will also be supported by your manager and a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferrable skills to support your career progression.
Standard 37 Hour working week. Some evening or weekend working may be required at times to meet service requirements.

This post is temporary for 36 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37-hour week though many roles can be worked on a part time basis at a minimum of 16 hours per week for apprentice roles.
