About the job

At Cardiff's Schools Meals Service, we believe that every child deserves access to healthy, delicious meals that fuel their learning and growth. Our mission is to enhance the educational experience of children and young people across Cardiff by ensuring they receive the best possible nutrition.

As an Operations Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the operations of our schools meals service. You will assist the Operations team, ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery. Your role will involve being responsible for all daily administrative actions relating to the Education Catering service, ensuring that all business, operational and financial processes and systems are delivered efficiently and effectively and complements a flexible and agile, high quality, continually improving school catering service. 

In this role, you will work closely with colleagues within Education Catering, manage the business support team, manage external funding streams, handle sensitive data, and support governance requirements. You will provide administrative support across the team, contribute to strategic plans, and assist in maintaining high performance standards.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking someone with proven experience in a commercial catering or general commercial environment, preferably within the education sector. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and a high level of interpersonal skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain electronic records with attention to detail. Experience in organising and delivering external events with partners and stakeholders is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and achieve goals. They will be confident and approachable, with the ability to build positive rapport. Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience are also important, as is a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and safeguarding practices.
