We are currently recruiting to a temporary one year contract to cover maternity leave.

About the job

To undertake and promote the effective assessment of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children including those in Age Assessment/Dispute.

To take the role of supporting, encouraging and disseminating good practice in this area. This should also encompass care planning, intervention and review for UASC cases including children in need of being children looked after and/or protection, including circumstances where it is necessary for the local authority to initiate legal proceedings to safeguard children and to further consider their immigration status.

 

What We Are Looking For From You

You will bring experience of managing a caseload of ranging complexity and problems, and competing demands.

You will have knowledge of legislation, case law in relation to UASC/age assessments and its application.

A degree in Social Work is essential for this role, as well as excellent skills in assessment and the ability to write concise records and reports. You will be a good team player, have excellent communication and organisation skills and have IT skills.

Additional information

With effect from 1st April 2024, this role attracts a market supplement of £5,000 (full time equivalent).

This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.

This post has a requirement for registration with Social Care Wales.

This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced check.
